Good morning the south. [Dec. 28th, 2009|09:01 am]

My lovely wife and I are currently on the south coast. Trip down yesterday was a bit of a mare but we bred now in eastbourne staying with my cousin and we shall no doubt be over fed and watered for a couple of days.

Or not
Shall be heading back to Lancaster tomorrow...probably getting in about 5ish. Give or take.
This is because I'm working Tue and Wed, though have a 4 day weekend which is nice.

Okay so this is what I have made so far with paint.net. I can't find the blur or smudge tool (if there is one) so might have to end up doing that by hand. Still got a lot to go, a real lot and want to lighten mum's hair but I quiet like so far.
For those that Wow...it's Mouse aged about 8

It's that time of year again [Dec. 25th, 2009|12:32 am]

And so whether you celebrate it, religiously or not, or indeed feel it's an overblown advertising / materialistic pile of something you don't want to walk into your carpets...I wish you have a good time tomorrow and in the days ahead.

I plan to have a nice and peacful day with the folks, with a few new things to play with and not have any stress. It's always been the best way to celebrate what I hope will be the coldest part of the year.

Still missing all you nutters who don't have the good sense to live nearby me so I can't see right now.

And just so you know, yes I have already started on the mead and am intending on curling up shortly with a good old book (why which I mean one of my childhood favourite Issac Asimovs which I spotted on the shelves) and the rest of the bottle until I nod off.

So many wires, but even more books [Dec. 21st, 2009|11:26 pm]

fen_wolfchile
We are re-arranging our house. At a basic level the computer and the tv are swapping rooms...
in reality this means moving one large corner unit, two book cases, one large sofa, one tv unit, throwing out the old sofa bed (it rarely gets used as a bed), moving all the DVD's and books and a lot of re-routing of wires.
We started Sunday and are half way through. At the moment my computer is not yet switched on, come to think of it I can't even see it as it's behind a pile of books, boxes, dining table and TV unit.
Thus I'm typing from Karen's lovely mac book, which is rather nice to use :0
So far there have been no major problems (despite the computer unit threatening to collapse mid rebuild) but it's hard work.
When finished the middle room will be a proper lounge with no computer of guitar amps and both the two and three seater sofas. front room will the study/recording studio/dining room/hobby room/library. This is closer to how I wanted the house when we first moved in... but we went the other way and it did work, but this will work better :)

The Last Weekend of Preparation [Dec. 21st, 2009|09:37 am]

[mood |Unproductive]

Well my weekend could have been more productive. We went out shopping on Saturday, but didn't exactly go over everything we needed to buy for people as thoroughly as we should have. This is annoying, as for one it left me with the feeling I always get in these situations; a nagging feeling a wasted time that could have been spent more productively. As it of course leaves me with the fact that I'm going to have to spend at least one of my lunch hours this week (and most likely more) going out into Central London to do the last of the Christmas shopping. We started off quite well with the organisation of Christmas this year, but it sort of feel into a small period of efficiency at the start, followed by a gap and now a rush at the end.
But the rest of the weekend was great fun. [info]fl_grillo  and I were off to the Purple Theatre Christmas Ball on Saturday evening, which was amazingly fun. And then [info]andit  and [info]glittermouse  came over to ours and we spent Sunday being vaguely Christmasy, geeking around, playing Halo 3 and watching The Nightmare Before Christmas. That was the fun. Plus eating a very good light risotto and a good Cottage Pie. (I might be biased, as I did the cooking, but I was quite pleased with how they both came out.

Slide it in baby [Dec. 17th, 2009|07:56 pm]

[mood | cheerful]

It’s all [info]telemeister’s fault.
After being asked if I played slide on Tush it got me thinking about setting one of my guitars for the purpose of playing slide. As they were the action was too low and once open tuned would neck adjustments. So I took my trusty Ibanez down from the wall, knocked up the action and flattened the radius at the bridge (not something easily done on my LP) and then tuned to open G.
I could get to like this, but it needs heavier strings and I’m not sure my cheap metal slide is up to the job either.
At this rate I’ll need a minion to pass me guitars at gigs :)
I could also do with a dedicated open tuned guitar… possibly a tele of some form or other.
